Paintings. I have made more than 800 in my career so far, and while I am sure that something about each one could be improved, I am relatively sure that is the Hindsight working. An interesting thing that I have experienced, is usually a painting was a great teacher for me, and I would struggle incredibly if I tried to incorporate everything I learned at one time in one painting. The beauty here is that I have a great deal of flexibility, and I get to learn as I go along--or at least those are the rules I have given myself.
If I were to categorize myself, I would say that I am drawn to Abstraction primarily. My influences are Richard Diebenkorn and a variety of other folks. Squeak Carnwath, Richard Long, Andy Goldsworthy, Nathan Oliveira, Joan Brown, Susan Rothenberg, Jan Dibbets, The Starn Twins, Nicholas de Stael, among a few. Bill Park is a Portland Artist that I really like as well as folks outside of my own medium of painting. Those include Kelly Howard in Glass as well as Heidi Erickson in Metal.
There are many more that have influenced me, but I should make a note that I really like abstraction, and that will limit a majority of folks, and especially women. This disproportional representation based on gender is getting better, and may have a lot to do with Women who aren't quite as warped as artists like myself who wander in the camps of abstraction!
As you may determine from my work, there are a number of paths I have traveled... but I have had a lot to learn.

What I intend on showing are primarily my 'Lolly-Pop' Trees and most of them will be 12" x 12". The picture here includes what I affectionately term as 'Contact Sheets' and comes from my love of photography. Begun before I had my stroke, I have embellished it. I wanted to focus on my attention on what was 'unsaid' in the painting, so I have added to it sparingly. To some it may seem unfinished, but I see much more potential relying on the paint, and how the paint informs the final result. There are more accomplished artists, but a lot of my success comes from knowing when that's enough, and enjoying what a viewer may bring to a completed work.
